Highly fluid-dependent; the fluid must provide both sealing and lubrication. Chemical compatibility between the pump material and the fluid is crucial for selection.
Output pulsation exists; the reciprocating motion inherently causes flow rate fluctuations. Applications sensitive to pulsation require additional damping devices.
Limited pressure capacity; cannot reach the extreme high-pressure levels of some heavy-duty plunger pumps.
Caution is required with certain fluids; when handling air-sensitive fluids, additional flushing devices may be necessary.
